7 TeamRetro alternatives for 2026 (six with a free plan)
TeamRetro is one of the most complete retrospective tools on the market: timed retros with anonymity options and private voting, plus health checks and agile maturity models, estimation, async stand-ups, an AI assistant, SAML SSO on every plan, and integrations with Jira, GitHub, Azure DevOps, Slack, Microsoft Teams, and more. It says more than 60,000 agile teams use it. Nobody leaves because the product is weak.
The reasons teams do look elsewhere are narrower. There is no permanent free plan — a 30-day trial, after which, per TeamRetro’s own FAQ, your retros and actions stop being accessible unless you subscribe. The cheapest paid plan, Single Team, is $250 a year for one team and caps at 25 members, and every extra team adds to the bill. And it is a suite: health checks, estimation, and stand-ups come with every plan, which is a good deal if you use them and most of the invoice if you only run retros.
Below are seven alternatives, ranked for a team of five to fifteen that runs a retro every sprint and wants to stop paying for what it does not use — with a pointer to the right tool for each thing TeamRetro does that a retro-only board does not. Prices were read from each vendor’s own pricing page: TeamRetro, Echometer, and Kollabe on 1 October 2026, the others in September (EasyRetro in July). Where a feature is not advertised we say so rather than guess, and where TeamRetro is simply better — and in places it is — we say that too. FocusRetro is our product and is listed first; the head-to-head table further down is the two-column comparison.

Why teams switch to FocusRetro
You are paying for a suite and using the retro board
TeamRetro puts health checks, maturity models, estimation, async stand-ups, and AI facilitation into every plan. If your team runs retros and nothing else, that is most of what the invoice covers. FocusRetro does one thing: the retro, from private writing to owned action items.
A free plan, and no cliff after the trial
TeamRetro has a 30-day trial and no permanent free plan, and its FAQ says that after the trial, without a subscription, your retros and actions stop being accessible. FocusRetro’s Starter plan is free forever — 3 personal boards a month is enough to prove the habit before anyone asks for budget.
$144 a year, and nobody counted
TeamRetro’s Single Team plan is $250 a year and caps at 25 members. FocusRetro’s Team plan is $12 a month billed annually — $106 less a year for one team — with unlimited boards and unlimited members, so a stakeholder or a new hire never takes a seat.
A board that stays small on purpose
FocusRetro ships fewer features on one focused surface: write, vote, discuss, assign. Timed, locked phases keep a 45-minute retro at 45 minutes. If TeamRetro’s breadth is more than your team opens, the quieter board is noticeable in the first session.
Where TeamRetro shines
An honest comparison cuts both ways. TeamRetro is a solid product, and it may be the better fit if these matter most to you:
- Team health checks, agile maturity models, radar charts, and trend tracking built in, alongside estimation and async stand-ups
- An AI assistant (trAI) that suggests templates, groups ideas, drafts actions, and summarises meetings
- SAML SSO and a SOC 3 report on every plan, with SOC 2 Type 2 and SCIM on Enterprise and a choice of US or EU hosting
- One of the longest integration lists in the category — Jira, GitHub, GitLab, Azure DevOps, Linear, Trello, Asana, Slack, Microsoft Teams, Confluence, Notion — plus an API, webhooks, and MCP access
- Built for many teams: multi-team plans, a team-of-teams programs view, and cross-team insights on Enterprise
- A large installed base — it says 60,000+ agile teams — and participants join retros without creating an account
Frequently asked questions
How much does TeamRetro cost?+
As of October 2026, TeamRetro’s Single Team plan is US$20.83 a month billed annually ($250 a year) for one team and up to 25 members. Small Organization is $50 a month billed annually ($600 a year) for 3 teams, plus $20 a month for each extra team, with unlimited members. Large Organization is from $75 a month billed annually ($900 a year) for 6+ teams, plus $15 a month per extra team. Enterprise is custom, for 10+ teams. Every plan includes unlimited retros, estimations, stand-ups, and health checks, and there is a 30-day free trial with no credit card.
Does TeamRetro have a free plan?+
No. TeamRetro offers a 30-day free trial with no credit card and then requires a paid plan; per its FAQ, if you do not subscribe your retros and actions stop being accessible, though they are kept for a limited period. Free options that do not expire are FocusRetro’s Starter plan (3 personal boards a month), Neatro (up to 10 members), Parabol (2 teams and 10 meetings a month), Kollabe (10 members, 4 retros a month, 7 days of history), and Echometer (one team, one retro a month after the pilot).
What is the cheapest TeamRetro alternative?+
For one team, FocusRetro’s Team plan at a flat $12 a month billed annually ($144 a year) is below TeamRetro’s $250, and every other per-team price we verified is above it: Neatro Premium is $23.20 per team per month billed annually (about $278 a year), Kollabe Premium is $290 a year, Echometer Pro is €29 per team per month on an annual term (€348 a year), and Retrium is $39 per Team Room per month ($468 a year). EasyRetro prices by public-board quota, so check its pricing page. Parabol charges $8 per active user a month, so it costs more than TeamRetro from about three active users. The free tiers cost nothing, with limits. One caution: TeamRetro’s extra teams cost $20 a month ($15 on Large Organization), while FocusRetro’s Team plan covers one shared workspace and Business is custom-priced, so if you run many teams, get quotes before assuming a flat price wins.
Which TeamRetro alternative has team health checks?+
Echometer is the closest: Team Health Checks with automated survey scheduling and a cross-team dashboard are included on every plan, and it has a free Starter plan for one team. Parabol also lists team health checks. FocusRetro does not include health-check radar charts or maturity models, so if those are why you use TeamRetro, stay, or pick Echometer.
Is FocusRetro a full replacement for TeamRetro?+
For the retrospective, yes: hidden writing, blind voting, timed and locked phases, owned action items, and guests who join from a link. FocusRetro is deliberately a retro tool. It has no estimation, no stand-ups, no health-check models, and its integrations are Jira and Slack against TeamRetro’s much longer list. If you use those parts of TeamRetro today, it will not replace them.
Can I move my retros from TeamRetro to FocusRetro?+
There is no one-click import. TeamRetro lists reports and exports on every plan, so export your history first: a cancellation takes effect at the end of the billing period, but after an unconverted trial your retros are no longer accessible. Then pick the matching format in FocusRetro (Start Stop Continue, Mad Sad Glad, 4Ls, or Went Well/To Improve — or a blank board with custom columns for anything else), carry your open action items over by hand, and invite the team with a link. For a side-by-side with another per-team tool, see the Retrium alternatives.
TeamRetro or Retrium: which is cheaper?+
TeamRetro. Its Single Team plan is $250 a year for up to 25 members; Retrium’s Team plan is $39 per Team Room per month, or $468 a year, with unlimited users. Neither has a permanent free plan — both offer a 30-day trial — and TeamRetro also includes health checks, estimation, and stand-ups, while Retrium is built around a guided technique library. SAML SSO is on every TeamRetro plan but only on Retrium’s Business plan. Both are covered in our Retrium alternatives and EasyRetro alternatives.
